Woods Fines Hit Hard In Catfish Loss

Woods Fines dropped to 1-2 on the season with a tough start against the RiverDogs.  He gave up five runs (three earned) on seven hits and five walks with a strikeout in 3 2/3 innings.

Desmond Jennings was the hitting star in the 8-4 loss. He went two for five with a solo homerun.

Ryan Morse Hit Hard In Catfish Loss

A great start by Wade Townsend was wasted in the Catfish’s 6-4 loss to Charleston.  He gave up one run on three hits and a walk with seven strikeouts in five innings.  Ryan Morse took the loss and he gave up five runs in just 2/3 of an inning.

Desmond Jennings scored two of the four runs and Ryan Royster went two for three.

Catfish Win Fifth Straight Game Behind Solid Pitching By Lewis Rollins

Lewis Rollins threw five shutout innings as the Catfish topped Charleston 5-2.  He gave up no hits and four walks with seven strikeouts in five innings and the win improves his record to a solid 2-0.

Nevin Ashley was the hitting star.  He went two for four with two RBIs and a run.

Jeremy Hellickson Pitches Catfish to Win Over Rome

Jeremy Hellickson picked up his first win of the season in a nice start in for the Catfish.  He gave up just one unearned run on one hit and two walks with six strikeouts in six innings.

John Matulia was the hitting star in the 6-2 win.  He was a perfect three for three with two walks and two runs.

Catfish Win Third Straight Game

The Catfish won their third straight behind some solid pitching a 5-3, twelve inning win over Rome.  Neal Frontz was the most impressive pitcher and he picked up the win with three shutout innings.  He gave up two hits and a walk with five strikeouts.

Cesar Suarez went two for five with a double, two RBIs and a run.  John Matulia also had a nice day at the plate and he went two for three with a triple and two runs.

Catfish Win in Sixteen Innings

The Catfish scored three runs in fifteen innings and then in the sixteenth, they exploded for five runs to win it 8-3.  Quinn Stewart finished with three hits, three RBIs and a run while Desmond Jennings went four for seven with a double and two runs.

Ryan Reid picked up the win with four perfect innings to close out the game.  He struck out four and the win pushed his record to 1-1.

John Matulia Has Five Hits in Cat Fish Win

John Matulia had a banner day today in the Cat Fish’s 7-1 win over Rome.  He went five for five with two doubles, a triple, and three runs.  Ryan Royster doubled three times and drove in two runs.

Wade Townsend struck out nine in his win.  He gave up one run on four hits in six innings and the win pushed his record to 3-1 on the season.

Cat Fish Shutout in Loss to Augusta

The Cat Fish couldn’t get their hitters going as they lost one to Augusta 9-0.  Cesar Suarez was the only Cat Fish with two hits.  He went two for four.

Ryan Owen had a tough start and he took the loss.  He gave up three runs on three hits and three walks with four strikeouts in just three innings.

Brett Grandstrand Hits Grand Slame in Catfish Win

The Catfish blew out Augusta 6-0 and four of those runs came on one swing of the bat by Brett Grandstrand.  His grand slam made it a 5-0 game and with the solid pitching, it also put this one out of reach.  Desmond Jennings also went yard and he was the only Catfish to finish with two hits.

Lewis Rollins had a very good start and he improve to 1-0 on the season. He gave up two hits and a walk with seven strikeouts in six innings of work.

Cat Fish Shutout in Loss to Augusta

The Cat Fish never got their bats going as they were held to just four hits in a 1-0 shutout to Augusta.  The game winning run didn’t come until the ninth inning and a very good start by Joshua Butler went to waste.  He gave up three hits with four strikeouts in six shutout innings.  Even Neal Frontz, who took the loss and dropped to 0-3, threw three solid innings he just gave up the one unearned run that ended up being the difference in the game.

Ryan Morse Pitches Catfish to Win

Ryan Morse had a nice start in today’s start.  He gave up just one run on five hits and two walks with three strikeouts in six innings of work. He improved to 2-0 on the season with the win.

Nevin Ashley doubled and drove in two runs in the 5-1 win.  Maiko Loyola went one for two with a double, a walk and two runs.

Catfish Splits Doubleheader With Asheville

The Catfish split a pair of games with Asheville as they made up Sunday’s rain out.  The Catfish took the first one with a nice outing by Wade Townsend. He gave up just a single run on three hits and three walks with six strikeouts in five innings and the win improved his record to 2-1.  Jairo de la Rossa drove in two runs in the 6-2 win.

The second game was a blowout Woods Fines had his first rough start of the season.  He gave up six runs in three innings and both Catfish relievers were also hit hard in the 13-5 loss.  Quinn Stewart hit a two run homer and Cesar Suarez had three hits and two RBIs in the loss.

Cat Fish Blows Two Run Lead in Loss to Asheville

Lewis Rollins had a very nice start.  He gave up two runs on four hits and two walks with eight strikeouts in six innings.  Unfortunately he didn’t get a decision because Neal Frontz gave up three runs in the eighth to loss it.  He dropped to 0-2 and it was his second blown save of the season.

Jairo de la Rossa was the hitting star.  He went two for three with a triple and two RBIs.

Nevin Ashley Has Four Hits and Two RBIs in Catfish Win

The Catfish blew out Asheville 8-3 today and Nevin Ashley was one of the hitting stars.  He went four for five with a double, two RBIs and a run.  Brett Grandstand went two for four with a double, two RBIs and two runs.

Joshua Butler picked up the win with a decent start.  He gave up one unearned run on three hits and two walks with five strikeouts in five innings of work.

Ryan Morse Throws Six Shutout Innings in Catfish Win

Ryan Morse was hard to hit as the Catfish beat Greenville 6-1.  He threw six shutout innings and he gave up just three hits and a walk with four strikeouts.

John Matulia had two singles and three RBIs as he led the way for the offense.  Ryan Royster hit a solo homerun and he finished with two runs.

Woods Fines Throws Five Shutout Innings in Catfish Win

Woods Fines picked up his first win of the season with five shutout innings. He gave up five hits and three walks with four strikeouts.

Nevin Ashley led the Catfish at the plate in the 5-2 win.  He went three for five with a triple and two RBIs.

Cat Fish Shut Out by Greenville

Columbus racked up eight hits and a walk but they couldn’t get a single runner across the plate.  Nevin Ashley and Ryan Royster each had two singles in the 3-0 loss.

Wade Townsend was roughed up in his start and he took the loss.  He gave up three runs on four hits and three walks with four strikeouts in three innings.  The Cat Fish did get some decent relief pitching though.  Chris Kelly threw three shutout innings and Neal Frontz struck out two in a pair of shutout frames.

Lewis Rollins Hit Hard in Catfish Loss

Lewis Rollins took the loss in the Catfish’s 6-5 loss to Greenville.  He gave up four runs on nine hits and two walks in 4 1/3 innings.  He did strike out nine, which is pretty impressive.

John Matulia tripled and drove in two runs while Joey Callender had two singles, a run and an RBI.

Joey Callender Hits Catfish to Win Over Kannapolis

Joey Callender had a great game for the Catfish in their series finale against Kannapolis.  He went three for four with three RBIs.  Ryan Royster and Matthew Spring each had two hits and two runs in the 5-4 win.

Joshua Butler had a decent start and he lasted five innings.  He gave up three runs on three hits and three walks with four strikeouts.  Ryan Owen closed out the game with two shutout innings and he picked up the win.

Catfish Held to One Run in Second Straight Loss

The Catfish couldn’t get the bats going in their 4-1 loss to Kannapolis.  Jairo De La Rossa singled home Joey Callender for the only run of the game.

A solid start by Ryan Morse went to waste.  He gave up a single run on just three hits with two strikeouts in a six inning no decision.

Woods Fines Impressive in Catfish Loss

You can’t blame the starter for this one.  Woods Fines was very impressive in his start for the Catfish.  He threw five no hit innings and walked three with seven strikeouts in a very impressive start.  Two different relievers gave up three runs a piece in the ninth inning though and Fines got nothing to show for his efforts.

Matthew Fields had a solid game at the plate.  He went one for four with a triple, a run and an RBI.

Wade Townsend Pitches Catfish to Opening Day Win

Wade Townsend threw five innings of two hit shutout ball as the Catfish won their season opener over Kannpolis.  He struck out six and walked just one in the win.  Also impressive on the mound was Ryan Reid.  He struck out four in three innings.

Quinn Stewart had a monster game at the plate.  He went two for four with a homerun, three RBIs and two runs.  Matthew Fields hit a two run homeruns while Cesar Suarez had two hits including a double in the 6-1 win.
