The Catfish needed just three games to dispatch West Virginia and once again it was the pitching that got it done.  Jeremy Hellickson threw three shutout frames in his start and then Wilton Noel picked up the win with three shutout frames of his own.  In total, five pitchers held the heavy hitting Power to four hits in the combined shutout.

Ryan Royster was the hitting star with a double and a three run homer.  John Matulia singled, doubled and scored twice while both Cesar Suarez and Matthew Fields both went yard in the 6-0 win.

Woods Fines Impressive in Catfish Loss

by @ 11:13 pm. Filed under Columbus Catfish - April 2007, Matthew Fields, Woods Fines

You can’t blame the starter for this one.  Woods Fines was very impressive in his start for the Catfish.  He threw five no hit innings and walked three with seven strikeouts in a very impressive start.  Two different relievers gave up three runs a piece in the ninth inning though and Fines got nothing to show for his efforts.

Matthew Fields had a solid game at the plate.  He went one for four with a triple, a run and an RBI.
