The Biscuits lost an ugly 8-4 game at the hands of Huntsville as they kicked off their Southern League championship series. Wade Davis was tagged for four runs in 4 1/3 innings while Richard De Los Santos gave up a run to take the loss.
Chris Nowak had the big hit for the Biscuits with a three run homer. Gabriel Martinez also went yard with a solo homer.
Aaron Sisk had a big day at the plate in Vero Beach’s 9-7 win over St. Lucie. He went three for four with a double, a homerun, three RBIs and three runs. Patrick Cottrell went two for five with two runs scored.
Jonathan Beltre picked up the win although his relief appearance was hardly stellar. He gave up three runs in just inning. Wade Davis did have a nice start though. He gave up four runs (three earned) on seven hits and two walks with nine strikeouts in six innings.
Vero Beach got some great pitching in their fourteen inning, 2-1 win over Tampa. Matthew Devins hit a walk off homer in the bottom of the fourteenth to win it.
Wade Davis struck out eight and gave up just one run in his six inning start. Chris Kelly picked up the win with two shutout innings of relief.
Sergio Pedroza had a career game in Vero Beach’s 15-4 win over Lakeland. He went four for five with three homeruns, six RBIs and four runs. Erold Andrus also hada nice day at the plate. He went three for five with four runs.
Wade Davis improved to 3-0 with the win. He gave up two runs on six hits and a walk with five strikeouts in five innings of work.
The Rays got some solid pitching in their 5-1 win over the Cubs. Wade Davis threw 5 2/3 innings and gave up just one run on six hits and two walks with seven strikeouts. Greg Dupas picked up the win with 3 1/3 innings of shutout relief.
Hunter Vick had a nice day at the plate. He went three for four with a run and an RBI. Neil Walton went two for four with a double and he scored twice.
This was a tough loss because Vero Beach had a 2-1 lead and gave it up in the ninth and then they had a 3-2 lead in the eleventh before Eddie de la Cruz gave up two runs in the bottom half of the inning to lose it. Even worse, a great start by Wade Davis went to waste. He gave up one run on three hits with eight strikeouts in seven innings.
Alex Jamieson put Vero Beach on the board in the third with a solo homerun. Patrick Cottrell also had a nice game and he went two for four with a double and he drove in the other two runs in the 4-3 loss.
Rhyne Hughes had a big game at the plate today in Vero Beach’s 6-4 win over Daytona. He went three for four with a double, two runs and an RBI. Neil Walton and Jackson Brennan each drove in two runs and Christian Lopez scored twice.
Wade Davis was hit hard in his loss but the bullpen did their job and the hitters put together some late rallies. He gave up four runs (three earned) on five hits and two walks with six strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings. Jino Gonzalez picked up the win with 1 2/3 innings of shutout ball.
Erold Andrus had a really nice day at the plate in Vero Beach’s 4-3 win over Daytona. He went three for four with a double, a homerun, a stolen base and two RBIs. James Hall had two hits and two runs.
Wade Davis gave up three runs on seven hits and two walks with two strikeouts in six innings in no decision. Jeffrey Kamrath struck out two and he picked up thw win.
The Devil Rays were held to just six hits in a shutout loss to St. Lucie. Christian Lopez had two of those hits and all six Devil Ray hits were singles.
Wade Davis threw five shutout innings in his start but Jino Gonzalez followed that up by giving up three runs. Jonathon Beltre was impressive as he struck out the side in the ninth.
